Minor (Child) Credit Freeze

A minor credit freeze lets a parent or guardian create and then freeze a credit file for a child under 16, blocking most attempts to open credit in the child's name. It is free under federal law at each of the three bureaus and is one of the strongest steps for protecting a child from identity theft.
